First of all, thank you for choosing to join Duns Golf Club. Hopefully you will find the information here useful in helping you making the most out of your new membership at Duns Golf Club. If you think there may be other useful questions (with answers!) that would be beneficial to new or nearly new members then please email them to secretary@dunsgolfclub.com and we will append them to this page.
The office is rarely manned so most calls will be answered by the restaurant staff. The best way to contact the Club is to send an email to secretary@dunsgolfclub.com
You will be given a code to the keypad and access from the door in the car park into the locker rooms.
You can rent lockers annually for a small fee. Please email secretary@dunsgolfclub.com to arrange a locker.
There are two practice areas at the Club. There is an are alocated between the 3rdand 4th fairways which is best accessed by parking off the Longformacus road at the 10th green. The other practice area is alongside the 18th fairway which also leads to a practice green behind the 17th tee.
Tee-off times for competitions on the Club Fixture List are allocated at the draws which take place at various times throughout the day. (See ‘How to I enter a competition’ question).
For all other reservations, including Open Competitions, you must book a tee via the online BRS booking system.
You will have been given instructions on how to sign-on to BRS in your joining pack. Alternatively, you can access the BRS system via the member booking link available on this website.
Members are required to book a tee time every time they play.
Complete the relevant section within your Fixture Card booklet (contained in the new membership Welcome Pack) and arrange for someone in the Clubhouse to ‘cancel’ the guest ticket. Payment can be made in the Clubhouse.
Please email competitions@dunsgolfclub.com and the handicap secretary will lead you through the process.You must play three rounds and keep a card for each round, submit these cards marked “for handicap purposes” and drop them in the letter box at the computer room opposite the Gents locker room. A round can be 9 or 18 holes. Each card should be verified by a competent person.
For Juniors the initial three scorecards should be from the red tees. The maximum allowable handicap is 54

Our in-house competitions (including Medals) are listed in Master Scoreboard as well as on the Fixture Card in your new membership Welcome Pack. These competitions are normally held on Tuesdays and Saturdays for Gents, and Mondays and Wednesdays for Ladies.
You must have a handicap to play in the competitions.
Notify the Competition Committee of your intention to play in the competitions prior to tee-off. This must be done by sending an email to competitions@dunsgolfclub.com. You may also advise of your playing partner(s). If no notification is received prior to tee-off then your score will not be entered.
Each year there are around 30 fixtures for senior gents. Most of these are matches against other clubs in the Borders, East Lothian and Northumberland, but we also play four Texas Scrambles with players from 3 other clubs and have season Opening and Closing Day competitions.
Nearly all of these events take place on Thursdays and the only requirements are that participants have a current handicap and are aged over 50. Players get refreshments on arrival, a friendly but competitive game of golf played in fourballs and a 2-course lunch at the end.
An invitation sheet goes up on the Seniors’ notice board about 3 weeks before each event and people wanting to play should add their names. Ability is not an issue as it is all about taking part – players with any handicap can participate. We especially welcome new players!
Anyone thinking about playing for the first time but wanting more information is welcome to contact secretary@dunsgolfclub.com who will pass the details to the Seniors Match Organiser.

After Junior members have reached a certain skill level, they will be able to participate in regular Junior competitions usually held throughout the year on a Monday (during school holidays) and Friday (after school), depending on school participation. The various coaches will determine when the required skill level has been reached and youngsters will be invited to play with other more advance Juniors at competition level.
The best way to get involved and meet other members is to play in Club competitions. The various draws will ensure you will get to play with different players every time.
For Gents, the ‘Tuesday challenge’ is a good way to meet up with people casually. A friendly knock-about game is played most Tuesday mornings. The draw takes place at 8.45 to 9.00.
For the Ladies, joining in competitions and the many fun events they hold will introduce you to other members. The Ladies also operate a WhatsApp group that members can use to arrange games.
Social events regularly take place in the Clubhouse and are advertised in-house and on the various social media sites listed below. The Clubhouse is of course open to members at all time.
You may also be aware that the Club is run by a Management Committee that heads up a number of sub-committees, all made up by volunteers. Any member who wants to help is most welcome to do so. Simply contact any of the committee members or email secretary@dunsgolfclub.com and you will be gladly brought on board. Also if you would like to help out on some the ‘gardening’ duties from time to time such as strimming, hedge-cutting etc. then please let us know.
